Causes

Pessaries (Suppositories)

Herbs

Just be warned that Tea Tree pessaries can sting initially if you are very sensitive. Calendula and goldenseal or echinacea are often combined in a pessary as well. Use one pessary (suppository) every 12 - 24 hours for up to 14 days.

Garlic

Garlic has anti-fungal properties and a whole clove of peeled garlic can be used as a pessary (suppository). Wrap in a small piece of gauze or fine muslin with trailing ends for easy removal. Dip in vegetable oil to lubricate before inserting into the vagina as high as possible. Use a new clove every 12 hours and continue treatment for at least 5 days.

Boric Acid

Researchers in several studies concluded that 600 mg boric acid suppositories or pessaries were just as or more effective in curing vaginal yeast infections than the drugs Fluconazole (Diflucan) and Itraconazole (Sporanox). Boric acid acts as an antifungal and antibacterial. Use 1 every 12 hours and continue for 7 - 14 days.

One company combines boric acid with a number of anti-fungal herbs and essential oils in a product called Yeast Arrest. Although regular douching can alter the pH balance of the vagina and contribute to yeast overgrowth douching with anti-fungal herbs and other substances can be a useful health remedy against yeast infections.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Mix 1 teaspoon of ordinary 3% hydrogen peroxide from your chemist or pharmacy with 1 cup of water and use as a douche once a day until your symptoms improve.

Pau D'Arco Tea

To make the tea put 1 heaping tablespoon of Pau D'Arco Tea into a saucepan and add 1 quart (1 liter) of water. Bring to boil and simmer on lowest heat possible for 30 minutes. Allow to cool. Strain and use as a douche alternately with garlic tea. You can drink the tea as well. Keep any surplus in a lidded glass jar in the fridge.

Garlic tea

Garlic is a natural anti-fungal. Bring 4 cups pure water to the boil. Turn off heat and add 4 - 5 crushed cloves of garlic.Let steep for 20 minutes before straining. Allow to cool to body temperature before using.

Grapefruit seed extract

Make a douche solution with 6 - 10 drops to each cup of water.

How to douche

You can get various douche kits. The best ones consist of a bag or rigid container and a length of tubing with a clamp and douche nozzle. Many instructions tell you to use a bulb douche standing up but the solution will stay in contact with your vaginal tissues longer if you lie down in an empty bath and allow the solution to run in slowly. Any remaining inside you will come out when you stand up.

Hang the bag about 2 feet above the level of your pelvis. Always use the solution at body temperature and make sure you sterilize the douche nozzle and container afterwards with a natural sterilizer such as grapefruit seed extract.

Other tips

Wear only cotton panties.
Avoid wearing panty hose or tights
Wear skirts and not trousers,slacks or jeans.
Avoid wearing pajamas.
Follow an anti Candida diet.

Hemorrhoid Cure - Is there a natural remedy?

In a recent study on 60 people with various degrees of prolapsed hemorrhoids, researchers found that an ointment containing the natural remedy Smartweed gave relief to 50% of the sufferers. Smartweed, also known as Pepper Plant, contains natural adrenaline and hamamelis that cause the blood vessels to constrict and the piles to shrink. There are many other products on the market that are sold as a hemorrhoid cure but do they work?

Let's have a look at what each of them do for the body, how they intend to treat hemorrhoids or piles, and raw truth on most of them.

Creams & Ointments

The first popular type of product that sufferers buy hoping for a hemorrhoid cure is a cream or ointment. These types of products are applied to the outer rectal area and are aimed at soothing the piles. They work for some but not for others.

Medication

In some cases hemorrhoids are caused by increased pressure in the veins. Some doctors treatit with blood pressure pills to regulate the blood pressure. Once there is less pressure the vein may shrink and become less of a problem. All drugs have side effects and many prefer to find natural remedy.

More drastic treatments

None of these solutions tend to provide a true hemorrhoid cure and people turn to more drastic measures such as ligation (banding) or surgery. Ligation is where elastic bands are applied to the hemorrhoids to cut off the blood supply and it withers and drops off.

Surgical removal (hemorrhoidectomy) tends to be reserved for very severe cases as many complain about intolerable pain and discomfort for some time afterwards and even leakage after bowel movements.

Celery Juice is a Natural Cure for High Blood Pressure

The fact that the frequent intake of fresh fruit and vegetable juices with a healthy diet can lower blood pressure has been known for a long time but a recent experiment showed that celery juice is a natural cure for high blood pressure.

Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. If the pressure rises above normal it can over time cause a lot of damage to your body. It can triple your risk of heart attack, increase your risk of stroke and can damage your kidneys and eyes.

Although various types of drugs can be used to lower blood pressure they have a variety of side effects such as fatigue, weakness, insomnia, cold hands and feet, chronic cough, dizziness, constipation , headache, dry mouth and many more that some people are not willing to tolerate. They turn instead to natural health remedies or natural cures.

Doctor's experiment proves celery juice can lower blood pressure

The ability of celery to reduce high blood pressure has long been recognized by Chinese medicine. Some studies have shown that drinking celery juice every day for 1 week can help lower blood pressure. In a recent experiment using celery juice, a doctor from a well known alternative center in the USA resulted in her father’s systolic blood pressure (the top figure) reducing from 148 to 128 and her own from 120 to 105.

They both drank celery juice from one bunch of celery mixed with a little orange juice to counteract the bitterness that celery juice sometimes has, every day for a month. The fact that the frequent intake of fresh fruit and vegetable juices can lower blood pressure has been known for a long time but it was always presumed that it was the high intake of potassium, other minerals and antioxidants in the juices that did it.

Celery contains the compound 3-n-butyl-phthalide which relaxes the muscles in the walls of the arteries which widens them and allows the blood to fow more freely thorugh them. Pthalides also reduce stress hormones which can cause blood vessels to constrict.

In a previous post I wrote about the research that showed that beet juice is also effective for lowering blood pressure through the formation of nitrite which dilates blood vessels. So instead of sweetening the celery juice with orange juice why not try beet juice. The two make an ideal combination.

Other diet and lifestyle changes can help reduce high blood pressure:

  • Increase fruit and vegetables and whole grains
  • Reduce and preferable eliminate sugar and salt
  • Restrict animal fat
  • Eat more low mercury oily fish or take some Omega 3 capsules
  • Limit alcohol to one drink a day
  • Lose weight if overweight
  • Increase exercise - walking, swimming and cycling are good
  • Reduce stress - try yoga or meditation
  • Give up smoking

Although you would probably never think that celery juice is a natural cure for blood high pressure it seems that in combination with a health diet and lifestyle it can improve your health no end.
